Many people think fitting a prosthetic limb is a single step. In reality it is a full journey, and our team walks it with each patient from the first visit until they regain mobility and independence.
1. Clinical and technical assessment
Everything starts with a careful examination of the residual limb: skin, muscles, amputation level and general health. A committee of prosthetics specialists then decides which prosthesis or orthotic device best fits the patient and their daily life.
2. Measurements and casting
A certified technician takes precise measurements and a cast of the residual limb. The quality of the socket is the foundation of comfort: a well-fitting socket means walking longer with less pain.
3. Fabrication and fitting
The limb is made in our workshop. The patient tries it on, and the team adjusts alignment and length until standing feels balanced and each step feels as natural as possible.
4. Gait training
A limb alone is not enough. Our physiotherapists work on balance, strength and walking pattern, and train patients to manage stairs and uneven ground.
5. Follow-up
The residual limb changes over time and children grow fast, so we follow up regularly and adjust or replace limbs when needed.
